Roller doors and sectional doors are designed to fit behind the opening of your garage, so there are some dimensions that need to be carefully checked before placing your order. Please read the guidelines below thoroughly, to ensure that your garage can be fitted with the door of your choice.

Roller Doors

There are four main dimensions you need to check for a roller door: Opening width, opening height, side clearance, and headroom clearance.

The minimum side clearance required is 130mm on each side of the opening. If an electrical operating system is to be fitted, the sideroom required can increase depending on the type used. The most common operating systems require an extra 80mm on the side to which it is to be fitted. Manual doors can be fitted to a minimum of 100mm - Special Order.

The minimum headroom clearance (i.e. between the underside of the lintel and the ceiling) is 330mm. To get the full use of the opening height however, 460mm clearance is required. This clearance must extend for a minimum of 500mm back from the opening. Inquire about our special order "Mini Roll" door if you have limited headroom in your garage.

Please ensure that the area around the opening is strong enough to support the door. The surface where the door is to be fitted must be flush and reasonably smooth. Small irregularities in brick work will be acceptable. The lintel must not protrude backwards or forwards from the brick piers.

Sectional Doors

There are five main dimensions you need to check for a sectional door: Opening width, opening height, side clearance, headroom clearance, and backroom clearance.
